Neste estudo analizamos os elementos máis importantes do estilo interpretativo de Ricardo Portela, unha das figuras importantes dentro do mundo da música tradicional de Galicia. Os autores das investigacións previas que versan sobre o gaiteiro considérano o herdeiro da tradición Pontevedresa. Trataremos de comprobar en que medida recolleu as influencias musicais dos grandes gaiteiros do século XX.
Debido as particularidades do estilo de Portela, proporemos un novo sistema de escrita para a transcrición do seu repertorio musical, que, se ben nos axudou na nosa labor, tamén nos parece interesante en prol de facilitar e precisar a notación musical dos variados estilos interpretativos que existen entre os gaiteiros de Galicia.
En primeiro lugar, faremos un breve repaso da súa vida para comprender quen e como puideron influír outros músicos na súa carreira como gaiteiro. Isto nos axudará a definir un marco contextual do que partir e a precisar certas características interpretativas comúns con Portela.
Seguidamente, faremos un traballo minucioso de transcrición das obras que Ricardo recolleu destes gaiteiros precursores. Estas obras mestras son as que se analizarán detalladamente, e das que comentaremos os elementos principais que definen o seu xeito de tocar: a dixitación, o repertorio, a escala de entoación, o carácter musical, e especialmente a ornamentación, así como calquera outro elemento que poida ser de interese para ese fin.
Finalmente, analizaremos a evolución do seu estilo interpretativo a medida que foi desenvolvendo a súa carreira como gaiteiro, sobre todo, buscando diferenzas entre as pezas idénticas que deixou gravadas en diferentes etapas da súa vida.

This study we analyze the most important elements of the interpretive style of Ricardo Portela, one of the important figures in the world of traditional Galician music. The authors of previous research on the bagpiper consider him the heir to the Pontevedra tradition. We will try to see to what extent he
picked up the musical influences of the great bagpipers of the twentieth century.
Due to the particularities of Portela's style, we will propose a transcription of his musical repertoire, which, although he helped us in our work, we also find interesting in order to facilitate and clarify the musical notation of the various interpretive styles that they exist among the bagpipers of Galicia.
First, we will take a brief look at his life to understand who and how other musicians may have influenced his career as a bagpiper. This will help us to define a contextual framework from which to start and to specify certain interpretive characteristics common to Portela.
Next, we will do a meticulous work of transcribing the works that Ricardo collected from these bagpipers of the middle ages. These masterpieces are those that will be analyzed in detail, and we will discuss the main elements that define their way of playing: typing , the repertoire, the scale of intonation, character, and especially the ornaments, as well as any other element that may be of interest for that purpose.
Finally, the evolution of his interpretive style will be analyzed as he developed his career as a bagpiper, especially looking for differences between the identical pieces he left engraved at different stages of his life.
